Aave activates LlamaRisk agents for Pendle risk on Plasma

Aave has activated LlamaRisk’s automated agents to adjust risk settings for a Pendle principal token on Plasma, moving updates for the market from manual stewardship to bounded on-chain execution. The change applies to PT-sUSDe-22OCT2026, which had $36.72 million supplied, according to The Defiant’s report. Aave’s governance forum says the Plasma deployment extends the risk-oracle system first activated on Ethereum, while requiring a governance action to register its agents.

What can the agents change on Plasma?

The agents can adjust the token’s discount rate and the loan-to-value, liquidation threshold and liquidation bonus in the two E-Mode categories where it is used. They do not replace the existing price feed: the discount rate feeds into Aave’s Pendle price adapter, while the E-Mode agent updates collateral settings. The system uses Chainlink’s Runtime Environment to deliver risk updates, according to LlamaRisk’s Aave governance proposal.

Each change is constrained. The discount rate can move by up to 100 basis points, with at least 48 hours between updates. E-Mode parameters can move by up to 50 basis points each, with a minimum 72-hour delay. The agents’ routes are also restricted to the specified market and categories. The Protocol Guardian can disable an agent; re-enabling it requires governance.

How does this differ from Aave’s earlier approach?

Before this deployment, PT risk updates depended on risk stewards assessing conditions and proposing parameter changes for execution. Automation can make those adjustments more regular as the token’s market-implied rate and time to maturity change, without requiring a separate governance vote for every bounded update. Aave’s earlier Ethereum deployment provided the first production use of this approach; Plasma extends it to another network and asset market.

The gain is more responsive maintenance of collateral settings. The cost is added reliance on the oracle workflow and its risk methodology: an automated update can still be wrong, while step limits restrict its size and cadence rather than guaranteeing a sound decision. The design also leaves Aave’s existing price adapter in place, so this is a new way to manage parameters around the feed, not a replacement for it.

What should users watch as the token nears maturity?

PT-sUSDe-22OCT2026 matures on Oct. 22, 2026. Pendle principal tokens move toward redemption value as maturity approaches, but market liquidity and the ability to liquidate collateral still matter before then. The useful signals are the agents’ on-chain updates, the gap between Aave’s oracle price and Pendle’s market price, and whether collateral settings keep pace with changing conditions.

The governance limits make changes gradual, but they also mean the system cannot make large corrections in one step. For borrowers, that trades sudden parameter shifts for the possibility that several bounded updates may be needed as conditions move. For Aave, the next test is whether the automated process keeps this maturing market’s risk settings aligned while governance retains the ability to disable the agents.
